Apple's next big iPhone Pro redesign may come with a subtraction. According to a leak from Weibo account Instant Digital, the Action button will be removed from next year's iPhone Pro models, as reported by 9to5Mac and PhoneArena.
The change would arrive alongside a major design refresh expected for 2027, which marks the iPhone's 20th anniversary. Apple is rumored to be planning quad-curved displays that wrap around the edges for a nearly bezel-free look, plus larger screens. This is a leak, not an announcement, so nothing is confirmed yet.
iPhone 20 Pro design: what the leak says
The Action button debuted on the iPhone 15 Pro as a customizable key that could launch shortcuts, the flashlight, the camera and more. If the new leak is accurate, that physical button would disappear from the iPhone 20 Pro.
The Camera Control button, introduced more recently, is expected to stay. The leaker says it would take over both roles.
- Action button removed from next year's iPhone Pro models, per the leak
- Camera Control button retained
- A standard press still launches the Camera app
- A long-press would offer Action button-style functionality
- The same approach is expected on the next-generation iPhone Duo and future models
