Google Chrome is rolling out an AI-powered autofill feature that can suggest information pulled directly from your Gmail as you fill out online forms. The company announced the update on Wednesday, and it is now reaching users in the United States.
According to reports from TechCrunch and 9to5Google, the feature goes beyond the usual names, addresses and credit card numbers. It can surface flight confirmation numbers, membership IDs, tracking information and order numbers by reading your inbox — but only if you turn it on.
How Gemini-powered autofill works
The new option builds on Google's Personal Intelligence, the system that already lets people link Google apps to the Gemini assistant so it can answer detailed questions. Chrome now taps that same layer to fill web forms.
When a suggestion comes from your email, a "Suggested by Gemini" label appears in the autofill dropdown, according to 9to5Google. The feature was first previewed in May before this wider rollout.
- Suggestions can include flight confirmation numbers, order numbers and tracking information
- A "Suggested by Gemini" tag shows when a suggestion comes from Gmail
- The feature is available on Android, iOS and desktop
- It is rolling out in the U.S. to Gemini in Chrome users with Personal Intelligence enabled
- Google says sensitive data is encrypted and users stay in control
