Daytona, a San Francisco startup building cloud infrastructure specifically for AI agents, has raised a $60 million Series B round at a $1 billion valuation. The round was led by FirstMark and included high-profile Silicon Valley founders such as Stripe's Patrick Collison, Shopify's Tobi Lütke, Perplexity's Aravind Srinivas, Quora's Adam D'Angelo and Zoom's Eric Yuan, plus strategic investors Qualcomm Ventures, Samsung Next and Okta Ventures. According to Fortune, about $50 million of the round came from existing investors, bringing Daytona's total funding to roughly $91 million.
The news comes as AI infrastructure and defense AI funding heat up. Separately, ASI, which makes AI tools for the military and air traffic controllers, raised a $325 million Series C at a $3 billion valuation after winning an $875 million FAA contract in June, according to Bloomberg. Both deals show investors are betting big on the picks and shovels of the AI boom.
Daytona funding round details
Daytona was founded in 2023 by Ivan Burazin, Goran Draganić and Vedran Jukić to automate software development environments for large enterprises. When the founders realized AI agents would also need computers to work on, they pivoted. Burazin told Fortune they "basically gave our competitors all our customers, rebuilt everything, had like three months left of revenue in the bank, and then relaunched this thing."
The company provides virtual machines, or "sandboxes," where AI agents can write and run code, browse the web or operate business software. These sandboxes are configured with only the software and network access an agent needs for a specific task, which limits the risk of an agent taking damaging unauthorized actions or being hijacked for sensitive data. Daytona says its revenue run rate grew 25-fold between January and September, with average monthly growth of 50.9%.
