Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will require up to 212GB of storage space, "depending on your device," and that digital pre-loading opens on November 10, ahead of the game's November 19 launch. The studio announced the details on Tuesday and published a support page with pre-loading instructions, according to The Verge and Notebookcheck.
The news matters because GTA VI is a digital-only release: even boxed copies will contain just a download code, so every player must install the full game before playing. With 212GB as the upper figure, many consoles will need storage freed up or expanded before November 19.
GTA VI pre-load dates and 212GB install size
Rockstar split the pre-load timing by platform. PS5 players get access at midnight in their own local time zone on November 10, while Xbox Series X and Series S owners start at 12AM GMT the same day. The studio urged players to "make sure you've got ample space to begin pre-loading as soon as possible."
The 212GB figure lines up closely with earlier leaks about the game's footprint, which Rockstar had not confirmed until now. Because the number varies "depending on your device," the exact total may differ between PS5 and Xbox consoles, or between base and expanded storage setups.
- Pre-load opens November 10 at 12AM local time on PlayStation 5.
- Xbox Series X / S owners can start pre-loading November 10 at 12AM GMT.
- Maximum install size: up to 212GB, depending on the device.
- Launch date: November 19, priced at $79.99 (roughly 232 TND).
