Meta has acquired Conductor, an AI coding startup that lets developers run several coding agents at once across parallel workspaces, according to Axios and a confirmation from Meta to TechCrunch. The deal was announced on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, and Conductor shared the news on its own blog the same day.
Conductor was founded in 2024 and only launched its core product last summer, so the acquisition lands barely a year into the product's public life. For Meta, it is another step in a months-long push to catch up in AI services and tooling, and it hands the company a young team already focused on how engineers actually work with agents every day.
What Conductor actually does
Conductor's pitch is simple: instead of chatting with one assistant, developers deploy teams of AI agents into separate, compartmentalized parts of a project and let them work at the same time. The company's agents can run in the cloud, on a local machine, or through a user's phone.
Conductor does not build its own models. Its agents come from major labs such as Anthropic and OpenAI, which makes the startup a layer on top of the biggest AI providers rather than a competitor to them.
