OpenAI and Google have announced a partnership that will bring OpenAI's frontier models to Google Cloud and the Antigravity coding tool. The deal, confirmed in announcements from both companies, marks a significant shift in the cloud AI landscape.
According to Ars Technica, Google Cloud will host the full suite of current GPT-6 and GPT-6.1 models — Astra, Sol, and Luna — in the coming weeks. Google says it is now the only large cloud provider offering access to all three leading closed large language models, alongside its own Gemini and Anthropic's Claude.
What OpenAI models are coming to Google Cloud
OpenAI notes that Microsoft remains its primary cloud partner, but this deal expands its reach to enterprises already committed to Google Cloud. For businesses with existing Google Cloud spending commitments, using GPT models becomes seamless, as transactions go through the Google Cloud Marketplace.
Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said, "We are focused on giving customers a broad selection of models, including those from OpenAI, so they can choose the right model for any given job, helping to deliver optimal quality and lower costs."
- GPT 6.1 Astra, Sol, and Luna will be available on Google Cloud in the coming weeks.
- The models will appear in Google's Model Garden, which already offers over 200 options, including Gemini, Claude, and open models like Mistral, Llama, and Gemma.
- OpenAI models will run entirely on Google's infrastructure, with transactions handled via the Google Cloud Marketplace.
