Oppo has reportedly scrapped plans to launch the Find X10 Ultra, the most camera-focused phone it had lined up for its next flagship cycle. The claim comes from leaker Digital Chat Station in a somewhat cryptic post on Weibo, as first reported by 9to5Google.
The tipster did not name a reason, but the timing points squarely at the memory price surge now widely nicknamed RAMageddon. Ultra phones lean on 16GB of RAM and oversized storage, two specs that have become far harder to sell at an acceptable price as AI-driven demand pushes memory costs higher.
What the Oppo Find X10 Ultra would have offered
The cancelled model was expected to carry one of the heaviest camera loadouts of 2026, according to leaks reported by 9to5Google. Oppo has not confirmed any of these specifications itself.
The gap it leaves is already visible in the current lineup. The Oppo Find X10 Pro Max runs on a MediaTek flagship chip instead of a Snapdragon, and most variants carry 12GB of RAM rather than 16GB. GSMArena notes that this phone is already expensive in markets such as Europe.
- A 200MP 1/1.12-inch main sensor with LOFIC
- A 200MP periscope telephoto on a 1/1.3-inch sensor
- A 50MP 10x periscope telephoto
- A 100MP square front-facing sensor
A wider Ultra retreat as memory costs bite
Oppo is not alone. Digital Chat Station previously reported that Xiaomi had cancelled the 18 Ultra, and GSMArena says AI-driven memory price increases are partly to blame for rising flagship prices across the board — with those 200MP sensors adding their own cost.
One Ultra is still on track. The vivo X500 Ultra is expected in China next March or April, a window vivo's VP of Product confirmed in September and the tipster now repeats. Digital Chat Station adds that it may be the only phone left in its category and says it will run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.
