Paramount has completed its $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, creating a combined company called Skydance. The deal, announced Tuesday, is one of the biggest media mergers ever, placing two major film studios, several TV networks and the streaming platforms Paramount+ and HBO Max under one roof, according to The Verge and TechCrunch.
David Ellison, who led the merger effort, will run Skydance alongside Ynon Kreiz, the former chairman and CEO of Mattel. The deal closed after months of negotiations, a bidding battle with Netflix, and antitrust objections from US states and Hollywood unions.
