Apple has rebooted its smart home strategy with the Apple Home Collection, a lineup of accessories developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, according to Wired and 9to5Mac. The announcement came at a media-only event in New York City on October 13, 2026, alongside three new Apple devices: the HomeView smart display, the HomePod mini 2 and the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K.
The move marks Apple's biggest push into the smart home in years, an area Amazon and Google have dominated for a decade with Alexa and Google Assistant (now Gemini). Apple now leans on a revamped Siri AI, introduced this year in iOS 27, and a more mature Matter-supported ecosystem.
Apple Home Collection devices and prices
The Apple Home Collection includes four LG cameras, an LG smart lock, two thermostats and two room sensors. Setup takes one tap on iPhone, and everything is managed from the Apple Home app or with Siri, with no separate apps or accounts required.
All accessories support Thread, and the smart lock also supports Matter and Aliro, so core access functions work locally without an internet connection. Camera footage is end-to-end encrypted and stored in the user's iCloud+ plan, with no separate camera subscription.
