Apple has hired Scott Tucker, a longtime Meta executive, to lead its global litigation efforts, according to a Bloomberg report by Mark Gurman. Tucker spent nearly six years at Meta as vice president and deputy general counsel for global litigation, and before that held a senior legal position at Morgan Stanley. He joined Meta in 2021.
The move is part of a broader reshuffle inside Apple's legal team, which has been reorganized under general counsel Jennifer Newstead, herself a former Meta chief legal officer who joined Apple earlier this year. Tucker's hire comes as Apple faces ongoing commercial and patent fights worldwide, and it puts a seasoned Big Tech litigator at the center of those battles.
Scott Tucker's role at Apple
Tucker becomes Apple's vice president of global litigation and financial services, a newly created position, the report says. He will oversee commercial and patent litigation worldwide and manage legal matters tied to Apple's financial offerings.
As part of the change, Heather Grenier, Apple's vice president of commercial and competition litigation, will now report to Tucker instead of directly to Newstead. Grenier keeps her seat on Newstead's legal leadership team, Bloomberg notes.
- New role: vice president of global litigation and financial services
- Scope: worldwide commercial and patent litigation, plus Apple's financial services legal matters
- Heather Grenier now reports to Tucker, while staying on Newstead's leadership team
- Tucker joined Meta in 2021 after a senior legal post at Morgan Stanley
