Apple has released iOS 27.2 for iPhone and iPad, an update that pushes Siri AI further into the centre of its software strategy. The headline change is language support: Siri AI, previously English-only, now works in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, though Apple labels all five as beta, according to TechCrunch.
The release, reported on 26–27 October 2026, is not just about Siri. It brings new memory functions, fresh iPhone Duo features, expanded FaceTime tools, a redesigned Apple Music logo and over 160 security fixes, per Apple's release documentation. Apple also backported several fixes to iOS 26 and even iOS 18.
Siri AI Memory and New Languages
The most significant addition is memory. Siri AI can now recall details from past conversations and use them when answering, a capability Apple's rivals at OpenAI, Anthropic and Google have also been chasing. Beyond your own words, the assistant can pull context from photos attached in Messages, calendar attendees, voicemails, Safari history and reading lists.
Crucially, Apple has added an "Excluded Apps" option that lets users choose which apps Siri, Search and suggestions are allowed to access — a direct answer to privacy concerns around always-on assistants.
- New beta languages: French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish
- Siri AI can retain context from past conversations
- Data sources include voicemails, Messages attachments, Safari history, calendar
- Excluded Apps option limits what Siri, Search and suggestions can reach
