Samsung's first pair of Android XR smart glasses has leaked ahead of launch, revealing a lineup of up to 25 styles and a 9-hour battery. The leak, reported by 9to5Google and Android Authority, comes as Samsung prepares to enter the smart glasses market currently dominated by Ray-Ban Meta.
According to the reports, the glasses will weigh as little as 41g, making them over 10g lighter than the nearest Ray-Ban Meta glasses with a camera. The leak also details key specs including battery life, cameras, and compatibility with Android and iOS devices.
Samsung Android XR glasses specs and styles
The leaked specs suggest Samsung's Android XR glasses will match the latest generation of Ray-Ban Meta glasses in terms of battery life and camera capabilities. The device is expected to offer basic functionality across both Android phones and iPhones, but certain Galaxy-only features will require One UI 9 (Android 17) on your phone and Wear OS 7 on a Galaxy Watch.
In terms of design, Samsung has partnered with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to deliver a wide range of frame styles. Warby Parker offers three frame styles: Alden (rounded), Reid (square-ish), and Wren (cateye-ish). Gentle Monster has six frame styles ranging from rectangular to a slim oval.
Both brands will offer different color options for frames and lenses. Warby Parker will have black, brown, and green colors, while Gentle Monster will offer more variety including gray, purple, burgundy, and brown. The leak also mentions that Gentle Monster will offer its glasses with prescription lenses.
