Samsung has started rolling out Android 17 to its Galaxy devices, wrapped in its own One UI 9 software. According to 9to5Google, the update is now reaching supported Galaxy smartphones and tablets in parts of the world, and the list of updated models keeps growing.
The rollout is the practical step most Galaxy owners wait for: after months of beta testing, stable Android 17 builds are landing on real devices. Samsung has not confirmed an exact global schedule, so availability still varies by model and region.
One UI 9 features and Galaxy AI changes
One UI 9 continues the design direction Samsung introduced with One UI 7 and refined in the Android 16-based One UI 8. This is an evolution rather than a full redesign, focused on small visual tweaks, more AI-powered tools and multitasking improvements.
Samsung's changelog for the update, listed for the Galaxy S26 series, covers Galaxy AI, productivity, privacy and health. Samsung notes that some features may vary depending on the device.
- Galaxy AI: Now nudge, Focus on someone important, Interpreter kept in front of you, and useful information during calls
- Productivity and multitasking: a more customizable quick panel and Samsung DeX enhancements
- Privacy and security: quick phone lockdown, location access transparency, stronger protection and AI privacy alerts
- Samsung Health: new look, customizable home screen, faster logging, advanced trend analysis, sleep vitals monitoring and heart health tracking
