Google plans to make it easier for schools to restrict its AI tools for students early next year, according to Techmeme citing The New York Times. But the company says schools that block AI entirely will lose student access to Search.
The policy creates a sharp trade-off for schools: limit AI, but not so much that students lose Google Search. The change is expected early next year, though exact dates and details have not been announced.
Quick Share SDK for Android and iOS apps
At Android Dev Summit 2026, Google announced a Quick Share SDK that will let Android and iOS apps directly integrate its peer-to-peer file sharing capability. According to 9to5Google, the SDK is coming in the first half of 2027.
Instead of opening the system Share sheet and launching the fullscreen Quick Share experience, users will be able to share files from inside third-party apps. Google says activating Quick Share in third-party apps launches a bottom sheet where users see a preview of the files being sent.
Google will also offer a Quick Share iOS SDK for apps on the iPhone. The company touts the integration as a way to make sharing faster and more direct.
