Google Health 5.11 is rolling out this week, and 9to5Google reports it is a major update for Fitbit trackers and the Pixel Watch. Improved Automatic Activity Tracking is available now on the Fitbit Air and Pixel Watch 3, 4 and 5, while the new Fitbit Edge will get the feature at launch on October 27.
The update adds Fitbit Air Health Guardian tools for Google Health Premium subscribers, alongside refreshed sleep tracking and a renamed glucose section. It is a concrete, device-level rollout rather than a preview, with new features already reaching users on iOS while Android continues to receive the release.
Fitbit Air Health Guardian features
According to 9to5Google, the Fitbit Air and Fitbit Edge are getting two Health Guardian features if you are a Google Health Premium subscriber. Users can set up blood pressure and insulin resistance trends now, with the first report expected at the beginning of November.
Health Guardian is the most eye-catching part of Google Health 5.11 because it turns tracker data into reports rather than simple charts. It is tied to a Premium subscription, so the feature is not free for every Fitbit Air owner.
100+ activity detection and sleep tracking
Expanded activity tracking takes the Fitbit Air and Pixel Watch 3, 4 and 5 from detecting 10 activities to more than 100, and the Fitbit Edge will also benefit. Google says it pairs workout routines, historical data, manual edits and location, with permission required, using contextual reasoning.
Workouts with a sustained elevated heart rate that meet the minimum duration threshold are logged automatically, with a summary notification typically sent to the app within 30 minutes. When you confirm or edit an activity, Google learns your patterns to tune future predictions. Google claims nearly 2x more accurate detections and more than half fewer missed workouts.
Sleep tracking is also improved across wake detection and nap editing. In addition, blood glucose is now called "Glucose" throughout the Google Health app, with updated charts and graphs. Version 5.11 is available on iOS and is still rolling out for Android users.
